This pizza sauce recipe is easy and so delicious. If you are in a big hurry, buy canned pizza sauce. However, this recipe has so many flavors and makes a difference. It produces a chunky sauce, so if you prefer a thinner sauce, run it through a blender once cooked. Be sure and store any extra in the freezer and this always works well as a pasta sauce.

- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 28oz can diced tomatoes, preferably San Marzanos
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Salt and pepper
- 1 teaspoon pizza seasoning or italian seasoning
- ½ teaspoon sugar
Instructions
- Heat a saucepan on medium heat and add the olive oil. Add the onions and garlic, and stir to coat with oil. Cook, stirring occasionally until the onions are soft, about 4-5 minutes.
- Add the diced tomatoes and red pepper flakes. Increase the heat to medium-high and bring to a boil.
- Let the sauce bubble up, stirring occasionally for 20 minutes. Lower the heat is the sauce starts to stick. Taste and season with salt and pepper. Stir in the sugar, pizza seasoning or italian seasoning at the end.
